Ten Florida Keys Students Win State Science Fair

 

Congratulations to the ten students who represented Monroe County at the State Science and Engineering Fair in Lakeland, FL this past week. All seven projects won awards at the state level.

In the Senior Division:

  • Violet Matthews (CSHS) won Outstanding Project
  • Teagan Eriksen (CSHS) won the Regional Water Prize
  • Gabby Thomas and Rachel Rusch (CSHS) won Special Recognition

In the Junior Division:

  • Taylor Thomason (SLS) won first in the state and the ThermoFisher nomination in the Earth and Environmental Sciences category
  • Ainsley Golden and Mikaela Aguirre (first team ever to compete from OSCS) won third in the state in the Environmental Engineering category
  • Collin Palomino (SLS) won the Thomas Edison Award and Outstanding Project
  • Charlie Smith and Jacobo Gutierrez (TVM) won Special Recognition
