Rock Icon Bryan Adams Collaborates With Painting Apes For Debut Art Exhibit During Miami Art Week
Grammy Award winning rock legend Bryan Adams will debut his first art collection—in collaboration with painting chimpanzees—at this year’s 14th annual Spectrum Miami art fair during this year’s Miami Art Week, taking place December 4—8, 2024 at the Mana Wynwood Convention Center in Miami.
The Canadian icon joined forces with Florida sanctuary Save the Chimps to create the collection. Bryan painted the basecoats, then chose color combos for the ape artists to add brushstrokes. The singer carved his initials into each abstract painting and named them for one of his songs or lyrics. All proceeds benefit the non-profit sanctuary, located in Fort Pierce.
“Only about 10% of chimpanzees enjoy painting, and I was delighted to collaborate with the ape artists at Save the Chimps to raise money for the sanctuary,” says Adams. “When people realize some chimpanzees have artistic impulses, respect for these intelligent individuals can only deepen.”
The unique acrylic-on-canvas works form the “The Bryan Adams Save The Chimps Collection,” comprising of 36 paintings in various sizes, available for sale and ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 in price. The collection debuts at Spectrum Miami art fair – one of the longest running independent art fairs during Miami Art Week.
Save the Chimps is a 150-acre sanctuary in Fort Pierce, Florida, for 220+ chimpanzees retired from laboratories, show business, and the exotic pet trade. The sanctuary was featured in HBO’s recent hit series, Chimp Crazy. FedEx Cares donated the shipment of paintings by Adams to the Florida sanctuary, then on to Miami, where the collection will debut at Spectrum Miami, December 4—8, 2024.
“The purchase price not only gets you one of the signed paintings in this debut collection by the music world’s most iconic rock star, but an invitation to the private sanctuary to meet some of the ape artists who collaborated with Bryan,” says Dan Mathews, Director of Events & Special Projects at Save the Chimps.
