Ribbon Cutting For New FLL Poster Exhibit of Film and TV Shows Filmed In Broward

The Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), in partnership with Film Lauderdale and the Broward County Office of Economic and Small Business Development (OESBD), hosted the official unveiling of a new art showcase at FLL titled “Scene in Paradise” on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.

The curated exhibit features posters of film and television shows filmed in Broward County while shedding light on the importance of the screen production industry’s economic impact in the region. Located post-security in Terminal 3, Concourse F, the exhibit offers viewers the opportunity to learn about the different filming locations in the County that created scenes for many significant productions.

Several Broward County officials gave remarks during the opening of the cinematic-themed exhibit. County Commissioner Alexandra P. Davis also attended the celebration, which spotlighted the County’s vibrant film industry.

“The Broward County Aviation Department and Film Lauderdale have partnered in the film permitting process for decades, administering a streamlined program for any production filming on airport property,” CEO/Director of Aviation Mark Gale said. “This collaboration has brought in a variety of productions from major motion pictures like “Donnie Brasco” to popular reality series like “The Real Housewives” and “To Catch a Smuggler.”

“This new poster display celebrates our longtime partnership, highlights the benefits of film-induced tourism, and shines a spotlight on the history of filmmaking in Broward County,” Gale added.

During the event, attendees from the airport community and local arts, business, and film industries enjoyed popcorn and small bites as they perused the selection of posters from productions such as “Caddyshack,” “Cape Fear,” “Bad Boys Ride or Die,” and “The Glades.”

Broward County is committed to supporting the film industry’s growth and providing a platform for local artists, crew, talent, and others. Officials said this new FLL exhibit exemplifies that commitment and further defines the County as a creative community.

County officials also noted that filmmakers have been coming to Broward for over a century, and this display of iconic movie and TV show posters celebrates that legacy as they forge into an exciting future.

County Administrator Monica Cepero said, “This is the time of the year when everyone wants to be here. It’s a great time to film, and it’s a great time to shoot commercials. This past year alone, we had over $180 million in production revenue for this industry. That is huge, and we continue to promote and provide incentives when others are not, and we encourage people to continue to come here.”

OESBD Director Sandy-Michael McDonald said, “As part of OESBD’s overall mission to recruit new and support existing industries, we see the growth of the screen industry as an important new engine for job creation and revenue opportunities for local small businesses and residents…One of our main goals has been to raise awareness of this industry and the opportunities it brings. This exhibit is a great step in that direction, and we look forward to seeing how this industry transforms Broward’s business landscape in the coming years.”

Film Lauderdale’s Sandy Lighterman said, “My goal as the film commissioner is to create a thriving screen industry in Broward County…Throughout my decades as a producer and film commissioner, I’ve watched the industry expand, face challenges, and build a global reputation for a strong, skilled crew base with an incredible work ethic. I want to provide every opportunity to platform and uplift our local screen industry community. I am so grateful to the Aviation Department for allowing us to showcase our industry uniquely and reach a new audience through the millions of travelers passing through FLL each year.”
