New 3D Art Technology Lab Library Check Presented by US Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz To Broward County Public Schools

BCPS Applied Learning Department will launch a new 3D Art & Technology Lab and a new technology lending library thanks to support from Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz, who secured a $525,000 Congressionally Funded Community Projects Grant through the U.S. Department of Education.

The $525,000 Congressionally Funded Community Projects Grant enables the BCPS Applied Learning Department to create the 3D Art & Technology Lab and technology lending library with professional development for teachers.

The 3D Art & Technology Lab will be available for students to work on special projects as they create and manipulate 3D designs in physical and virtual environments. This new lab supports the use of spatial reasoning, which opens doors to future careers and professional pathways that may not even exist yet.

Through the technology lending library, teachers Districtwide can “check out” resources for their classrooms – such as virtual, augmented and mixed reality tools, as well as computer-aided design, visualization and 3D printing.

The technology lending library is expected to open in the coming months, followed by the new 3D Art & Technology Lab later this school year. Both will be centrally located at Nova Middle School.
