Munisha Underhill named Vice President of Development for Oolite Arts
Munisha Underhill, an accomplished fundraiser with more than 20 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, has joined Oolite Arts as Vice President for Development, the non-profit arts organization announced today.
Founded by Ellie Schneiderman in 1984, Oolite Arts has become Miami’s largest support organization for visual and cinematic artists. The organization is on the cusp of a new era, with plans to open a state-of-the-art campus in the city of Miami to better serve the region’s growing cultural community.
“Munisha has both extensive nonprofit experience and a deep knowledge of contemporary art and its role in South Florida. We’re delighted she is joining us and our efforts to build Miami’s next creative chapter,” said Dennis Scholl, president and CEO of Oolite Arts.
Underhill will lead and manage Oolite’s Development initiatives for both the new campus and accompanying programming.
“Oolite Arts plays an integral role in championing Miami-based artists. I’m thrilled to be a part of this growing organization, and to help expand its reach as the campus begins to take shape,” Underhill said.
Previously, Underhill led the fundraising for the Arsht Center, Miami-Dade’s signature performing arts center, for seven years, and for the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami. More recently, Underhill has been a fundraising consultant and strategic advisor for clients including Pérez Art Museum Miami and the NSU Art Museum, among others.
She has served on the board for Locust Projects, Miami’s longest running nonprofit alternative arts space, for eight years and on the Art Basel Junior Host Committee member since its inception in 2001. Underhill graduated from the University of Leicester with top honors and a degree in art history.
