Jennifer Marasti (Percussionist)
Jennifer Marasti is a second-year Percussion Fellow at the New World Symphony. Prior to moving to Miami Beach, she was based in Boston for five years, working and studying with the Boston Symphony Orchestra percussion section. During her time in Boston, she held the position of Principal Percussion with the Boston Civic Symphony and is a substitute percussionist with Boston Pops Orchestra and Boston Symphony.
Originally from the Central Valley of California, Jennifer received a bachelor’s degree in both percussion performance and music education from California State University, Stanislaus. She led multiple high school concert bands, marching bands, and winter percussion groups in her hometown area. Jennifer also taught individual percussion lessons to students of all ages for multiple years before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a full-time performance career.
In the summer months, Jennifer has received fellowships from Spoleto Festival U.S.A., Texas Music Festival, Round Top Festival Institute and Napa Valley Music Festival, and has spent two summers at Tanglewood Music Center.
Jennifer holds a master’s degree from the Colburn School in Los Angeles, where she studied with Ted Atkatz, and a graduate diploma from New England Conservatory, where she studied with Will Hudgins.
In her Community Arts Program (CAP) Summer Concert Series debut, Jennifer Marasti brought to the marimba an incredible journey, with reimagined classics. Her performance was simply intriguing, enjoyable, and memorable!
