Over 250 people attended the Opening Reception of FRESCO at Lucid Design District, an art gallery that opened during Art Basel in Miami’s premier luxury retail destination. The event took place on Thursday, May 4th, 2023.
Then on Saturday, May 6th, 2023, the gallery hosted Young at HEART, a family-friendly program. Art stations were set up and participating artists Alejandra Stier, Victoria Lopez, Sandra De Souza, and Hiba Alyawer guided children through a variety of age-appropriate art projects. The final masterpieces will be on view at a special reception in the summer.
FRESCO is on view through August 13th, 2023 and entrance is free. The participating artists are Alejandra Stier (Argentina), Anne Beatriz (Brazil), Emilie Gosselin (Canada), Graciela Montich (Argentina), Hiba Alyawer (Washington D.C.), Payal Tak (Miami), Robert Frankel (Chicago), Sandra De Souza (Peru), Silvina Chialva (Argentina), Simi Bhandari (Washington D.C.), Tanja Ličina (Serbia), Victoria Lopez (Argentina).
Lucid Design District aims to be a conduit of communication between emerging and mid-career artists and collectors and art lovers. Owning an art gallery is Payal Tak’s second career.
She first had an intensely active 30-year career in Information Technology as owner of Telesis Corporation in Washington D.C. Art was Tak’s go-to activity at the end of the workday when she would paint late into the night while listening to Sufi music. Now living in Miami, she dedicates all of her energy to her own art and running the gallery.
“My goal is to make available a commercial platform for artists whose voices need to be heard,” explains Tak. “Lucid shares its’ walls with the objective to illuminate the viewer’s mind and allow artistic creations to become a force for good in the society.”
About Lucid Design District
Established in 2021 as a studio and exhibition space for founder Payal Tak’s personal artwork, Lucid Design District opened as an art gallery during Art Basel Miami 2022. The gallery is located on Miami Design District’s “art corner” (10-12 NE 41 St. at N. Miami Ave.) next to Museum Garage and across the street from the de la Cruz Collection and the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami. The idea of Lucid Design District was born from Tak’s desire to connect with the community through collaborative art exchanges. Lucid Design District will host group exhibitions, educational art talks, and artist networking events. The 3700-sf space is also an ideal environment for design focused networking events and features a large reception or performance area; 8 curio-style ‘idea spaces’ for solo artist showcases or breakout sessions; a full-size kitchen; and 75’ long outdoor seating or parking area with lights; and a large wall for art installations.
